User permissions

We've simplified the way you manage user access within the portal

We've removed the concept of "groups", as this really worked at scale that wasn't appropriate for almost all users of the platform, and wasn't super easy to understand.

In it's place:

  1. You can now simply enable access for users on specific templates (rather than in a group first and then relating the group to a template)

    1. Doing so means the user can create requests using that template and view any requests created from that template

    2. This includes payments made via HPP using the same template

  2. New templates default to enabled for all users

    1. When creating a new template, scroll to the "Authorised users" card and toggle this setting to disabled, to then select specific individual users who can access the template and it's payments

  3. You can enable/disable an individual user's ability to view payment requests generated via API (e.g. any platforms you've integrated with), by product/payment option if desired

As part of the update, any existing permissions settings have been copied into the new model, so there should be no change in a user's experience. If a user previously was part of a group who had access to a template, they have been enabled for access to that same template in the new model.

Don't hesitate to shout out if you experience any issues with this change, and let us know what other features or angles you'd like us to take around setting user permissions.
